It is miscible with water and alcohol. The solution named formol contains 35% formaldehyde, as well as a small amount of methyl alcohol and formic acid. It is a strong antiseptic. It is highly irritating to mucous membranes and especially to the conjunctiva. It is used in the disinfection of instruments and laundry. Its solutions are used as a caustic for destroying dental pulp nerves. It is incompatible with ammonia and oxidizing agents.<strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/eczacininsesi.com\/haber\/Formaldehyde2.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warnings:<\/strong>While formaldehyde vapors irritate the eyes and cause cough, respiratory spasm, asthma, pneumonia, and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) in the nose and respiratory tract, high concentrations of formaldehyde solution also cause skin rashes and allergic contact dermatitis.<strong>Cresol- Cresylic acid- Trikresolum-Cr\u00e9sol brut T.P.:<\/strong>It is a liquid with a characteristic odor. Soluble in 50 parts of water. It should be stored away from light in amber bottles. It is an antiseptic.<strong>Preparation:&nbsp;<\/strong>After mixing formalin and cresol in liquid form with boiled and cooled distilled water, the preparation is completed by adding glycerin.<\/p>\n<p>The formula should be preserved in a dark brown glass bottle and stored at this concentration. When this formulation is to be used, it must be diluted.
