Dear Colleagues;<\/p>\n

This week, I will share with you a formula called LOTIO COSMETICA (COSMETIC LOTION).<\/p>\n

I have chosen this formula as the preparation of the week, which brings a magistral perspective to the subject of DERMOCOSMETICS, a field we greatly appreciate as the Pharmetic Pharmacists group.<\/p>\n

LOTIO COSMETICA<\/p>\n

Rp.   Camphorae tritae ……………………. 6.0 g<\/p>\n

Mucilaginis Tylose ……………………50.0 g<\/p>\n

Sulfuris colloidalis ……………………25.0 g<\/p>\n

Aquae Calcariae …………………ad 200.0 g<\/p>\n

If we analyze the formula;<\/p>\n

Camphorae tritae: Also known by synonyms such as camphor, canfora, dextrocamphora, it is a substance with a unique and sharp characteristic odor. It is obtained from Cinnamomum camphora (lauraceae). It can also be prepared synthetically. It dissolves in varying proportions in water, alcohol and ether, chloroform, fixed and volatile oils. When mixed with phenol, thymol, menthol, resorcinol, chloral hydrate, pyrogallol, and other organic compounds, it liquefies. Externally, it exhibits a rubefacient (mild skin irritant) and mild analgesic effect. The effect of camphor does not increase further at concentrations above 11%.<\/p>\n

Mucilaginis Tylose; Mucilages, like gums, are substances that swell in water to form a viscous, colloidal solution. Unlike gums, they are not adhesive. Their role in this formula is to impart viscosity to the solution.<\/p>\n

Sulfuris colloidalis-Colloidal sulfur; It has mild antiseptic-antifungal, antiparasitic, and keratolytic effects. It shows a healing and desiccant (drying) effect on the skin. It is used externally in acne, dandruff, and seborrheic cases, eczema, furuncles, and scabies. It is very slightly soluble in alcohol. It is insoluble in water but slightly soluble in olive oil. Its homeopathic use is quite common.<\/p>\n

Aquae Calcariae; Lime water, Eau de chaux T.K.<\/p>\n

Contains 0.15-0.17%  calcium hydroxide. 1 part of unslaked lime is slaked with 4 parts of water. 50 parts of water are added to the resulting yogurt-consistency mass in a well-closed container, mixed, and shaken. After the mixture settles, the upper aqueous part is poured off, and the mass remaining at the bottom of the container is shaken vigorously again with 50 parts of water for five minutes and left undisturbed. It is filtered and taken when it is to be used. It has disinfectant properties.<\/p>\n

INDICATIONS: Used in the treatment of acne, seborrhea, and acne rosacea.<\/p>\n

Acne rosacea: A disease affecting the central part of the face, which can cause red and inflamed pimples, presenting with redness and telangiectasia (capillary dilation). Sometimes, particularly on the nose, by enlarging the sebaceous ducts, it can cause the nose to enlarge (rhinophyma) and change shape.<\/p>\n

Rosacea is quite common. Although it is especially seen in fair-skinned people, it can also be seen in dark-skinned individuals. It typically starts in one’s 30s. Rosacea is most commonly seen between the ages of 40-60. During this age period, rosacea may take a more severe course. It is seen more frequently in women than in men. Rhinophyma, which affects the nose, occurs more frequently in men.<\/p>\n

This formula is sold abroad under the name Acne Sulf.
