Date: 16\/08\/2018<\/strong>When I answered my ringing phone, my pharmacist friend Ahmet Bey on the other end of the line asked if I had read Nihat Gen\u00e7’s article!<\/p>\n

He expressed what you have been trying to explain for years. I said no, but that I would read it at the first opportunity.“…Pharmacies have long since turned into shopping malls, and female pharmacists in white coats do nothing other than sit at the cash register.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It wasn’t like this during the import substitution era; pharmacies could very well make many products themselves again, from creams, solutions, and ointments to makeup products\u2014in fact, they would make the very best of them. Instead of inviting a thousand different chefs, dishes, and gourmets every day, your screens should focus on these most vital medicines of our daily lives.”<\/strong>In summary, this is what Nihat Gen\u00e7 wrote\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026Date: May 9, 2018<\/strong>Location: K\u00fctahya Chamber of Pharmacists.<\/p>\n

In the conference hall of this beautiful architectural structure reminiscent of a Seljuk Mansion, I am talking about magistral production.<\/p>\n

—- Pharmacists should try to resolve their economic problems themselves by generating local solutions; expecting the solution to all problems from our umbrella organization is taking the easy way out, a waste of time, and wishful thinking.<\/p>\n

—- The solution is possible through knowledge and production.<\/p>\n

—- Pharmacists are extremely valuable. First and foremost, we must be aware of this.<\/p>\n

—- \u201cMagistral compounding\u201d, which is our art, is crucial as a solution.<\/p>\n

—- Pharmacists should sell licensed products they produce themselves in their pharmacies and collaborate with one another. The best-selling dietary supplements, toiletries, and cosmetic products in K\u00fctahya pharmacies should be identified, and priority should be given to these in the planned production.<\/p>\n

In my speech, which lasted nearly two hours, I touched upon these topics in summary.<\/p>\n

\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

Two days later, late at night, my phone rang. The caller was Cahit Ceylan, President of the K\u00fctahya Chamber of Pharmacists.<\/p>\n

He stated that they had made a series of decisions at the Board of Directors meeting and that, as a result, K\u00fctahya pharmacists wanted to sell their own products and were seeking my support in this matter.<\/p>\n

I stated that I accepted unconditionally, without hesitation.<\/p>\n

\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2018\u2019If we start doing the things we are capable of doing, <\/em><\/strong>
\nwe will achieve results that leave ourselves in astonishment.\u2019\u2019<\/em><\/strong>
\nEdison<\/em><\/strong>After a while, the project phase was initiated to turn ideas into action.<\/p>\n

First of all;<\/p>\n

It was decided to establish a laboratory with the idea of creating ideal laboratory working conditions at the K\u00fctahya Chamber of Pharmacists\u2026<\/p>\n

In this established laboratory, practical knowledge will be provided to pharmacists alongside theoretical knowledge\u2026<\/p>\n

It was decided to also invite physicians to training meetings where the correct prescription of magistral products and current formulations used in the treatment of diseases with magistral products are shared.<\/p>\n

In the final stage; it was planned to identify and produce high-quality products (food supplements, supplements, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and dermocosmetics) that will contribute to pharmacy economics and public health.<\/p>\n

\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

Finally;<\/p>\n

In today’s world where our country is sought to be economically encircled, we have once again seen how important \u201cDomestic and National production\u201d is. Is it possible to turn this imperial encirclement into an opportunity? We will all live and see the answer to this question together.<\/p>\n

What falls upon us as the pharmacists of this country is;We must recreate the phenomenon of magistral compounding, which takes pharmacies beyond being merely logistical points for drug supply to patients, and elevates the prestige of pharmacists in society by reconstructing the concept of a productive, drug-compounding pharmacist.<\/strong>Magistral formula prescriptions will add value to the notion of physician and pharmacist and will increase treatment diversity.<\/p>\n

When magistral production is evaluated within the scope of drug cost, efficacy, and national projects, we believe that it has an aspect capable of preventing unnecessary healthcare expenditures in our country and raising the treatment quality of patients.<\/p>\n

We Pharmacists must eliminate the \u201cPharmacies have long turned into shopping malls, and female pharmacists in white coats do nothing other than sit at the cash register\u201d <\/strong>perception, as pointed out by our author Nihat Gen\u00e7.AS THE PHARMACISTS OF THIS COUNTRY;<\/strong> we must demonstrate that we have the knowledge and equipment to fulfill our duty in extraordinary situations or in the compounding of medicines suffering from shortages.<\/strong>Acknowledgement\u2026.<\/p>\n

To President Cahit CEYLAN on behalf of the Board of Directors of the K\u00fctahya Chamber of Pharmacists and the pharmacists of K\u00fctahya, for valuing and appreciating the power of knowledge and production,<\/p>\n
