Substances in the formula<\/p>\n

Acidum salicylicum-Salicyls\u00e4ure-Acide salicylique-Salicylic acid<\/strong><\/p>\n

It consists of white crystals. It dissolves in 500 parts water, 15 parts boiling water, 27 parts alcohol (99%), 2 parts ether, 80 parts olive oil, 100 parts glycerin, and  55 parts chloroform. Salicylic acid accelerates desquamation. It exhibits a mild fungicidal effect. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) with the chemical formula C6H4(OH)CO2H. This colorless, crystalline organic acid is generally used as a plant hormone. It is a product of salicin metabolism. It possesses chemical properties similar to acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as aspirin. It is used in the treatment of fungal species such as tinea barbae, tinea capitis, and tinea cruris. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. It is used in the treatment of hyperkeratotic skin conditions and disorders characterized by skin scaling, such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, ichthyosis, psoriasis, and acne. Solutions and ointments used for this purpose are available. To minimize the risk of systemic absorption associated with topical application, salicylic acid should not be used for prolonged periods or in high concentrations, and application to large body surfaces or to inflamed or broken skin should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Glicerol-Glycerine-Glycerol; – 85%<\/strong>; Glycerin is a clear, colorless or very pale, hygroscopic, syrupy liquid that is odorless or with a very slight odor, and has a sweet taste. It is miscible with water and alcohol; slightly soluble in acetone; practically insoluble in chloroform, ether, fixed oils, and essential oils. Its aqueous solutions show a neutral reaction to litmus. According to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the pH of Glycerin Oral Solution, USP is between 5.5 and 7.5. Strong oxidizing agents form explosive mixtures with glycerin.<\/p>\n

Zinkoksid-zinci oxide-oxyde de zinc<\/strong>; It is an active substance with astringent properties, known for its mild antiseptic characteristics. It is used in eczema, burns, diaper rash, and skin damage caused by friction. Zinc oxide ointment contains 20% zinc oxide, while zinc oxide paste contains 25%. Zinc oxide is not absorbed through the skin; because it is insoluble in water, it is applied in the form of powder, ointment, or paste.<\/p>\n

Starch-Ni\u015fasta- Amylum- Tritici amylum- Oryzae amylum;<\/strong> Starch is named corn, potato, wheat, or rice starch according to its source of origin. Starch is used as a binder, diluent, and disintegrant in solid pharmaceutical dosage forms, primarily in tablets. It is practically insoluble in cold water and cold alcohol. It possesses adsorbent properties.<\/p>\n

Vaseline-Vaseline blanche<\/strong>; Known as white soft paraffin (white petrolatum), it is an ointment base with emollient properties. It is not easily absorbed through the skin. It is obtained by bleaching yellow soft paraffin. It is odorless and tasteless.<\/p>\n

Preparation of the formula:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Salicylic acid is levigated\/softened with glycerin. Zinc oxide and starch are mixed in a mortar and combined with the white soft paraffin that has been heated on a water bath. The salicylic acid levigated with glycerin is added to the soft paraffin mixture to finalize the formula.<\/p>\n
