Dear colleagues, this week’s formula is a highly effective Acne Solution featured in prescriptions in France.<\/div>\n

Acne<\/strong>; commonly known as ‘pimples’ among the public, acne is the most frequently encountered skin problem. 85 out of every 100 adults face this problem at some point. Acne is a disease of the sebaceous glands in the skin; normally, the sebum secreted by these glands must reach the skin surface and be discharged. However, during adolescence, the sebaceous gland secretes more sebum, and the duct allowing this sebum to reach the skin surface becomes clogged due to a condensed mass of sebum. The primary cause of acne is this blockage.All acne begins with a simple infection!<\/strong>A comedo, or pimple head, forms when enlarged hair follicles become clogged with sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria. The comedo, invisible to the naked eye, inflames and develops when it finds a favorable environment beneath the skin’s surface. As sebum continues to accumulate in the skin, bacteria begin to cause swelling within the pore. While inflammation gradually increases in the surrounding skin, white blood cells begin to fight this uninvited guest.<\/p>\n

Although all pimples start the same way, different reactions and forms can be observed in different individuals.\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Acne Types<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Non-inflammatory Acne<\/strong>Closed comedo or whitehead: If the clogged pores remain beneath the skin, it is called a closed comedo or whitehead. These are usually seen on the skin as small white bumps.
\nOpen comedo or blackhead: If the blockage has widened and swollen by pushing against the skin surface, it is called an open comedo or blackhead. The dark blockage is formed not due to dirt, but because the skin produces dark pigment instead of melanin.2. Inflammatory Acne<\/strong>Papule: Acne presenting as small, firm pink bumps on the skin with mild inflammation is called a papule. These are tender to the touch and are generally seen as a transition between non-inflammatory and inflammatory lesions.<\/p>\n

Pustule: These are small round lesions like papules. Unlike papules, inflammation is clearly present and they contain pus. They are primarily red with a yellowish or white center. Pustules usually do not contain large amounts of bacteria. The inflammation is typically caused by chemical irritation from free fatty acids.3. Nodule or Cyst<\/strong>Large and usually very painful, nodules are pus-filled inflammatory lesions deep within the skin. Nodules develop when the contents of a comedone spread into the surrounding skin and the local immune response triggers pus formation. In cases of severe acne, the contents of the nodule can harden into a deep cyst, persisting for weeks or months. Both nodules and cysts typically lead to deep scarring.4. Acne Conglobata<\/strong>A rare but severe form of acne that primarily develops on the buttocks and back. It manifests as a severe bacterial infection occurring in addition to pustules and nodules.Acne Symptoms<\/strong>Blackheads (clog sebaceous glands)

\nTender or pus-filled red swellings
\nCysts and nodules: A cyst is a lump formed under the skin. It is larger than a pimple.
\nSqueezing, picking, scratching, and rubbing pimples should be avoided. These actions can cause scarring.\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alcohol 60% \u2026.ad 100 mlIf we examine the substances in the formula;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iodine-<\/strong> jodum- iodum-Iode T.K.:<\/strong>Iodine is found in the form of easily friable flakes or small crystals with a sharp, pungent odor, a metallic appearance, and a violet grayish-purple or grayish-black color. Its solubilities according to the British Pharmacopoeia (BP): Soluble in alcohol and chloroform; slowly soluble in glycerol. Its solubilities according to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP): Soluble 1:3000 in water, 1:13 in alcohol, 1:80 in glycerol; freely soluble in chloroform and ether; soluble in iodide solutions. It forms a pungent and irritating compound with acetone. Iodine exhibits a strong bactericidal effect. It is effective against fungi, viruses, protozoa, and spores. Iodine exhibits a lethal effect even at low concentrations on all types of microorganisms, including viruses and spores. When applied to the skin, iodine is absorbed slowly. It should not be applied to edematous skin.Sublimed sulfur-Sulfur-Sulfur depuratum:<\/strong>Sulfur is included in the pharmacopoeias of various countries. Monographs are mostly titled under Precipitated Sulfur (Milk of Sulfur) and Sublimed Sulfur (Flowers of Sulfur), or both are listed separately. Some pharmacopoeias describe sublimed sulfur washed with ammonia under the title Washed Sulfur. Sulfur has keratolytic, mild antiseptic, mild antifungal, and antiparasitic effects. Although more suitable and more effective drugs are available, it is widely used in the treatment of acne, dandruff, seborrheic conditions, scabies, and superficial fungal infections. It has a healing and desiccant (drying) effect on the skin. Precipitated sulfur is a pale yellow, very fine, odorless, amorphous or microcrystalline powder. It is practically insoluble in water; slowly soluble in carbon disulfide at a ratio of 1:2 (dissolution is often not complete); soluble in olive oil at 1:100; very slightly soluble in alcohol. Sublimed sulfur is a yellow, fine, crystalline powder with a faint odor. It is practically insoluble in water and alcohol; slightly soluble in olive oil.Acide salisilique-Acidum salicylicum-Salicyls\u00e4ure-Acide salicylique<\/strong>-Salicylic acid:<\/strong>Salicylic acid accelerates desquamation (the shedding and peeling of the outer surface of anything). It exhibits a mild fungicidal effect<\/strong>. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) with the chemical formula C6H4(OH)CO2H. This colorless, crystalline organic acid is generally used as a plant hormone. It is a product of salicin metabolism. It possesses chemical properties similar to acetylsalicylic acid, known as aspirin. Acne treatment andIt is also used in the treatment of fungal infections such as tinea barbae, tinea capitis,  tinea cruris.  <\/strong><\/p>\n

ALCOHOL – ETHANOLUM DILUTUM – DILUTED ETHANOL<\/strong>Diluted Ethanol is a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water. It should not contain less than 69.1% v\/v and more than 71.0% v\/v, or less than 61.5% w\/w and more than 63.5% w\/w of C2H6O.<\/p>\n

Although Ethyl Alcohol is effective at a concentration of 60-90%, a 70% concentration (vol\/vol) exhibits optimal efficacy for skin antisepsis. On the other hand, when the concentration drops below 50%, it largely loses its activity.Preparation of the formula:<\/strong>Iodine weighed on a watch glass is finely powdered in a glass mortar. Sublimed sulfur and salicylic acid are added to the glass mortar, and the powdered substances are dissolved by adding 60\u00b0 alcohol. The formulation is made up to 100 ml with 60\u00b0 alcohol.<\/p>\n

It must be stored in airtight bottles, away from heat and light.
