Substances in the formula
Polidocanol-Macrogol lauryl ether-Polyethylene glycol lauryl ether-Hydroxypolyethoxydodecane:Polidocanol is used to induce sclerotherapy in blood vessels, esophageal varices, and gastric varices. At a concentration of 2-3%, it is used in the sclerotherapy of varicose veins of all diameters and prominent veins. Polidocanol also has a local anesthetic effect. In addition, it is used in pharmacy as an excipient and surfactant in the preparation of pharmaceutical products. In this formula, it is included for local anesthetic purposes.Zinc oxide-zinci oxide-oxyde de zinc:It is an active substance with astringent properties known for its mild antiseptic characteristics. It is used in eczema, burns, diaper rash, and friction-induced skin damage. Zinc oxide ointment contains 20% zinc oxide, while zinc oxide paste contains 25%. Zinc oxide is not absorbed through the skin, and since it does not dissolve in water, it is applied in the form of powder, ointment, lotion, or paste.Talc-Talcum-Purified Talc:Talc is a natural hydrated magnesium silicate. Its approximate chemical formula is “Mg6Si2O54OH4”. It may contain varying amounts of aluminum silicate and iron. It is a very fine, light, homogeneous, white or off-white or grayish-white, odorless crystalline powder. When applied to the skin, it readily adheres to the contacted surface. Purified talc must be free from microscopic asbestos particles. Talc is practically insoluble in water and dilute solutions of mineral acids and alkali hydroxides.Glycerol-Glycerine-Glycerol; – 85%: Glycerin is a clear, colorless or very pale, hygroscopic, syrupy liquid that is odorless or with a very slight odor, and has a sweet taste. It is miscible with water and alcohol; slightly soluble in acetone; practically insoluble in chloroform, ether, fixed oils, and essential oils. Its aqueous solutions give a neutral reaction to litmus. According to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the pH of Glycerin Oral Solution, USP is between 5.5 and 7.5. Strong oxidizing agents form explosive mixtures when combined with glycerin.Gereinigtes Wasser; Distilled water
Preparation of the formulaThis formula with local anesthetic action is prescribed for pruritic skin diseases due to its cooling effect on the skin. The cream has a shelf life of one year under proper storage conditions.
Polidocanol, zinc oxide, and talc are levigated with glycerin in a mortar. With the addition of distilled water, the preparation is brought to a lotion form. The formula should not exceed 100 g.
