I should mention that I previously published this formula, which is taught as a lecture topic to pharmacy students in France, under an article titled EAU DE GOULARD for burns, chaps, and sprains.
We all know this formulation, which is recognized in our country under the names LEAD WATER, DILUTED LEAD SUBACETATE SOLUTION, EAU BLANCHE, AQUA PLUMBI T.K. (1954), SOLUTIO PLUMBI SUBACETATIS DILUTA, EAU DE GOULARD and is also included in our pharmacopoeia.
In the coming period, I plan to cover extensively the formulas used in the treatment of animals, our friends with whom we share our world.
Formule du formulaire national
Soluté d’acétate basique de plomb 2.00 g
Eau potable 98.00 g
Ingredients in the formula
Soluté d’acétate basique de plomb – Basic lead acetate – Monobasic lead acetate: Used for its astringent effect.
Eau potable : tap water
Preparation of the formula
Prepared with tap water, which is also used as drinking water in France, this formula is prepared by simple mixing. This liquid, which takes on a milky appearance after shaking, should be shaken before use.
The formula is used as a dressing solution in various burns, chaps, sprains, and bruises due to its astringent property. It is a compounded (magistral) preparation that provides relief when applied to the skin as a compress for about 20 minutes 3-4 times a day in weeping allergic skin diseases, soft tissue infections, and cases where bruising, swelling, and pain occur on the skin, especially as a result of drug extravasation into surrounding tissue after injections.
Wishing you a good week…
