Ingredients in the formula
Crystal violet-Methylrosaniline chloride-Gentian violet; Gentian violet: It occurs as dark green or greenish, shiny crystals with a metallic luster, and is odorless or with a very faint odor. It is sparingly soluble in water (1:116 parts), soluble 1:10 in alcohol and 1:15 in glycerol, soluble in chloroform, and practically insoluble in ether. Aqueous solutions more concentrated than 0.5% can be prepared with the addition of alcohol, but such concentrated solutions are not suitable for application to mucous membranes. Gentian Violet Cream described in the United States Pharmacopeia (Gentian Violet Cream, USP 23) should be stored at temperatures not exceeding 40°C. Also according to the USP, Gentian Violet Topical Solution (Gentian Violet Topical Solution USP 23) should be stored in airtight containers. Gentian violet should be stored at room temperature below 40°C. Crystal violet, or also known as gentian violet, is a topically used triphenylmethane drug with antifungal and antibacterial effects. It is effective against certain Gram-positive bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus species, and certain pathogenic fungi such as Candida species. It shows a weaker effect against Gram-negative bacteria. It is ineffective against spores. It is used in the topical treatment of skin infections and vaginal or oral candidiasis. Its activity increases as the pH rises. Because gentian violet is actually a dye, it can stain the skin and clothing. For the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections, 0.5% or 1% aqueous solutions or 1.2% or 1.6% creams are used. Since it has been shown to have carcinogenic effects in animals, it should not be applied to wounded or ulcerated areas of the skin.Viride nitens-Brilliant green: Dyes exert a bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect by combining with the proteins of microorganisms. Gram-positive bacteria are more susceptible than Gram-negative ones. Malachite green, brilliant green, crystal violet, and methylene blue are among the most well-known dyes.
Preparation of the formulaCrystal violet and Brilliant green are dissolved in 60° Alcohol.

Although not included in the pharmacopoeias in France, this commonly prescribed formula contains 60% v/v alcohol. The French generally prefer this alcohol strength in their formulations. For diaper rashes in children, solutions diluted up to 30% v/v alcohol are used. In this way, it is possible to protect against the irritating effect of alcohol. This formula is alsoCandida Albicans(Candida albicans is a sexually reproducing, diploid, yeast-type fungus species and is the causative agent of opportunistic oral and vaginal infections in humans. It occurs as a result of sweat accumulation, moisture, heat, and the proliferation of microorganisms in the resident flora.)In the treatment of bullae and vesicles (A circumscribed, elevated skin lesion smaller than 5 millimeters in diameter containing serous fluid; a small fluid-filled blister. Those with a diameter larger than 5 millimeters are called bullae.)
Careful and meticulous work must be ensured when preparing this formula. It should be kept in mind that any stains that may occur on fabrics and porous clothing cannot be removed.
