In previous weeks, I mentioned that Milian’s solution, although not included in French pharmacopoeias, is widely prescribed. This week, we will examine this preparation formulated in Germany with the addition of Solutio Antiseptica (Antiseptic Solution) to Milian’s Solution, used for antiseptic purposes against fungal infections.

Preparation of the formula; Crystal violet and Brilliant green are dissolved in the calculated amount of water. The preparation is finalized by adding the previously prepared Antiseptic solution. Care should be taken to ensure the total formula weighs 150 g.

The addition of antiseptic solution provides an astringent and antiseptic therapeutic contribution to the formula.
In fungal infections such as Candida Albicans (Candida albicans is a sexually reproducing, diploid, yeast-type fungal species and is the causative agent of opportunistic oral and vaginal infections in humans. Although there are 200 species belonging to the Candida genus, C. albicans is responsible for 75% of Candida infections.), especially in diaper-related fungal infections and erythema (erythema = redness that may appear on the skin due to various causes.)
Intertrigo (Dermatitis caused by skin-to-skin friction, seen in areas where the skin folds or touches each other, such as between the buttocks, contacting surfaces between the scrotum and thighs, and the areas beneath pendulous breasts in women. It occurs as a result of sweat accumulation, moisture, heat, and the proliferation of microorganisms in the resident flora.)
In the treatment of bullae and vesicles (A circumscribed, elevated skin lesion containing serous fluid, less than 5 millimeters in diameter; a small fluid-filled blister. Those larger than 5 millimeters in diameter are called bullae.)
